Meet the 2011 Leadership of FIRST® Team 340!

At the end of build season 2011 eligible students were nominated to run for various positions of leadership. They were each required to speak in front of the team about why they would fit that role better than their opponent. The entire team, mentors included, then voted for their favorite candidate. The tallies were counted and the student who received the most votes won. The elected students began taking over their leadership roles the next meeting and will continue to do so until the end of build season 2011 where a new set of students will be selected.
Tom Leavy: President
Tom joined our team November 2010. He is on mechanical and worked on mini-bot his rookie year. He has been a dedicated member and continues to help our team to success. Even though this was his rookie season, his dedication, unique personality and his work ethic lead to his election as our 2011-2012 President. Tom also adds to the team through his unique mix of sarcasm and humor. Tom also attended National Championship in St. Louis in 2011 to help with the mini-bot.
Taylor Nobles: Vice President
Taylor joined our team 2008. He is on mechanical and worked on our mini-bot in the year 2010-2011. Despite his mean looking face in the picture above he is a nice guy (just didn’t approve of his photo being taken.) Taylor is the youngest of three brothers, Colin went through the team and was President his senior year, Luke is currently on the team in his senior year. Also both of Taylor’s parents work as mentors on the team. Taylor was also our co-driver on the drive team 2011 and attended National Championship in St. Louis 2011.
Laura Brunelle: Treasurer
Laura joined our team in 2007. She has been part of the electrical sub-team, the marketing sub-team and the lower mechanical sub-team. This year she is on the mechanical and website sub-teams. Laura’s older brother, Matt was on the team for three years and her sister, Erin was on the team for four years and was our team’s president (2010-2011 Season). Both parents work as mentors for our team. Laura dedicates herself to every task handed to her and puts her best foot forward. Laura also attended National Championship in St. Louis in 2011, National Championship in Atlanta in 2010, and National Championship in Atlanta for FLL team Mechanical Mayhem in 2009.
Maddie Jones: Secretary
Maddie joined our team in 2010 she is on electrical sub-team. Maddie may be shy but she is dedicated and friendly. Her job is to take notes on the team meetings and keep track of our teams community service.
Dan Felix: Historian
Dan joined our team 2010 and is on the lower mechanical sub-team. Last season Dan was the voice on our Chairman’s video. Dan is a friend to all with his very funny personality. He attended National Championship in St. Louis in 2011. Dan also does some of the photography for our team, which we are very grateful for.
