2011 Finger Lakes Regional Chairman’s Award

As read on Saturday, March 5, 2011:

The Regional Chairman’s Award was created to keep the central focus of the FIRST Robotics Competition on FIRST’s ultimate goal of transforming our culture in ways that will inspire greater respect for science and technology, and to encourage more young people to appreciate the real life rewards and career opportunities in those fields.
The Regional Chairman’s Award honors the team that, in the judges’ estimation, best represents a model for other teams to emulate, and which embodies the goals and purpose of FIRST. It is the most prestigious award presented at this regional competition.
The winner of this award will be invited to the FIRST Championship this year in St. Louis, where it will compete against the winners from all the other regional events for the Chairman’s Award.
And now, here’s what the judges have to say about this Regional Chairman’s Award team …
All Regional Chairman’s Award teams do an outstanding job of representing FIRST in their community. These teams have all sustained team performance over several years.
This team devoted this year to outreach in a different way. Their menagerie of sports mascots combine with new driving skills shows an innovative way to spread the FIRST message. Maybe their winning ways will rub off on our local professional teams.
This team continues to provide community support to members of all ages, spanning from 1 -99 years. They support areas of FIRST from FLL camps and tournaments to mentoring several FRC teams as well as racing in the alumni’s. This team continues to succeed even though over half their team is new to FRC this year. This teams two-page list of community service activities, demos. technical outreach, camps and more continue to demonstrate their devotion to FIRST. Their support of our troops, scouts and military, shows how GRRRRRRRate they are.
The 2011 Regional Chairman’s Award Winner is Team # 340
