Outstanding Volunteer Award
The phenomenal success of the FIRST Robotics Competition is a reflection of the commitment and enthusiasm displayed by our volunteers. FIRST has established an annual award intended to honor the dedication of volunteers in each region. To present this award, please welcome our FIRST Regional Director, Glen Pearson
Thank you. It would be impossible to keep track of all the volunteer hours put forth leading up to today’s event. But it’s safe to say it is in the thousands of hours with hundreds of volunteers helping out.
Each year we recognize one volunteer for their exceptional service. Let me tell you a little bit about one such individual:
In 1996, this person was a freshman at RIT and mentored the robotics team for a local High School. She was so successful that they nomiated her for the Woodie Flowers Award, which she won several years ago. Now, she is an instructor in the mechanical engineering department at RIT, adviser to the FIRST robotics club on campus and volunteer coordinator for the Finger Lakes Regional.
And she still finds time to mentor Team 340 from Churchville-Chili High School.

Congratulations Kate Leipold for being the 2010 Outstanding Volunteer.

And thanks again for all your hard work and dedication!!!

Welcome FIRST® Team 340
