2010 Finger Lakes Regional Chairman’s Announcement

As read on Saturday, March 6, 2010:

The Regional Chairman’s Award was created to keep the central focus of the FIRST Robotics Competition on FIRST’s ultimate goal of transforming our culture in ways that will inspire greater respect for science and technology, and to encourage more young people to appreciate the real life rewards and career opportunities in those fields.
The Regional Chairman’s Award honors the team that, in the judges’ estimation, best represents a model for other teams to emulate, and which embodies the goals and purpose of FIRST. It is the most prestigious award presented at this regional competition.
The winner of this award will be invited to the FIRST Championship this year in Atlanta, where it will compete against the winners from all the other regional events for the Chairman’s Award.
And now, here’s what the judges have to say about this Regional Chairman’s Award team …

This team’s volunteer efforts are enspiring and provide an example for all teams to emulate, their thousands of hours of service are unmatched.
Their mentoring and sponsorship of FLL teams insures continual infusion of new minds and new ideas into the program.
They provide other FLL teams with supplies, advice, welding assistance and many other forms of support.
They have made FIRST large in the school through websites and newsletters, large in their community through demos, events and posters, also large in local media, print, radio, and television.
They’ve combined good old-fashioned fun with their effective fundraising events.

The Finger Lakes Regional Chairman’s Award Winner is Team # 340, Greater Rochester Robotics, G.R.R.
