The Game

This year's game, FIRST Overdrive, involves moving giant balls, called trackballs, around a 54 foot long track. The balls are 40 inches wide and weigh about 8 pounds. Points are scored every time a trackball goes over its coresponding alliance's finish line, with bonus points if the ball hurdles the overpass above the finish line. Robots also score points every time they cross their alliance's finish line.

New this year, is the Hybrid mode. Hybrid mode has replaced autonomous mode and works in the same respects as the old autonomous mode. The difference is the Robocoach. The Robocoach is allowed to send signals to the robot in any period. They can send any of four distinct signals from an infrared remote to an infrared receiver on the robot.
